Bankruptcy vs Credit Counseling

You are up late at night, not sleeping due to the financial stress and  you see salvation on TV in the form of a credit consolidation or counseling program.  Is it salvation or another situation of someone praying on your desperation?

These organizations spend thousands of dollars on advertising and where do they get that money…from you!  A credit consolidation organization that states that you have to pay them monthly until there fees are paid and then they will start settling your debts is not helping you.  They are getting paid while you are not paying your credit cards and other debts.  You are severely delinquent and likely getting sued by the creditors while the company you thought was there to help you is taking y our money and doing nothing.  Those companies that state that they are going to negotiate with your creditors but need to use your payments to save up lump sums for settlements are putting you at risk and setting you up for a lawsuit.  When you get sued these no-lawyers state that they cannot help you.  This is not salvation.

You are in debt, you are stressed and scared and don’t know what to do.  Use the laws of the United States Bankruptcy Code to get out of debt.  Yes, you have to file with a court, yes you have to use an attorney, yes you will get relief in a finite amount of time.  A bankruptcy attorney will work with you to find the best option to get you out of debt quickly and with minimal risk and a lot less cost than the company you saw on TV in the middle of the night.  Bankruptcy will help and you will get a fresh start.
